History & Background
Long Son Pagoda was originally built in 1886 under the name Dang Long Pagoda. It was later renamed and relocated to its current site after being damaged by a cyclone in 1900. The pagoda has since been rebuilt and expanded, becoming one of Nha Trang's most important Buddhist sites. The iconic white Buddha statue, standing at 24 meters tall, was added in 1963 to commemorate the monks and nuns who died protesting against the Diem regime. Today, the pagoda serves as both a place of worship and a symbol of resilience and peace.
