History & Background

Opened in 1981 as the Sydney Tower, this landmark was designed by Australian architects Donald Crone and Associates. Originally called Centrepoint Tower, it was built as part of the Centrepoint shopping complex. The observation deck was added later, and the tower has since become one of Sydney's most recognizable landmarks. In 2011, it was renamed Sydney Tower Eye as part of a major refurbishment that added new interactive experiences for visitors.
